What not to do during tattoo healing ?

What not to do during tattoo healing ?

You already know how to take care of a fresh tattoo in order to heal well. However, there are several things you are absolutely forbidden to do during its healing.

Scratching is prohibited

You are absolutely forbidden to scratch the scabs that form during the tattoo healing process. You may not scratch off the descending skin. Scratching the tattoo can lead to infection, unwanted symptoms and, as a result, a poor appearance in the future. Only consistent care will bring relief.

Ban on sunbathing and swimming

Sure, you can sunbathe, however you absolutely must not expose your tattoo to the sun or UV rays in a solarium! Heat is not recommended at all and the sun burns the ink. Protect your tattoo thoroughly from the sun - cover it with a scarf, or apply a special cream with a high sunscreen designed for fresh wounds - Tattoo Sunscreen from LOVEINK is a great option. Once healed, use it too, so that the tattoo does not fade. Avoid long, hot baths, saunas, jacuzzis and public baths (lakes, pools, sea, ocean). Under no circumstances touch the tattoo with dirty hands or wear dirty clothes. Do not lean or rub against dirty objects (wall, railing).

Alcohol is not allowed

Leave alcohol and other stimulants off for the first few days of tattoo healing, as they dilate the vessels, which can cause the plasma to leak out along with the ink. The result? Spots and gaps in the tattoo.

Provide access to air

For good wound healing, it is essential to have access to air. Do not wear tight clothing, which not only causes discomfort but also multiple abrasions. Clothes worn during healing should be loose and made of natural fabrics (cotton).

Eliminate physical effort

Remember that a tattoo is an open wound and should be treated as such. For the first 2 weeks at least, avoid heavy physical activity. While doing so, your body will sweat which can lead to infection and damage of the tattoo - causing stains and loss of colour.

A trip to the seaside or mountains two days after getting it done, as is sometimes the case, is out of the question. Remember that a tattoo is a wound; the skin has been punctured for several hours in one area and needs rest. The most important are the first 4/5 days when it is fresh and the epidermis is punctured. After this time, the skin starts to regenerate.

Just be careful and cautious

If you have already decided to get a tattoo, give it time and attention so that it heals properly. The studio and the tattooists are not responsible for any damage that occurs during the healing of the tattoo - through the fault of the client! It is really worth to "strain" these few days: refrain from sunbathing, swimming or gym. Proper care will largely influence the final appearance of the tattoo in the future.

Animals

While healing, the tattoo must not come into contact with hair, dust or dirt. Keeping it clean is essential. Unfortunately, you must isolate yourself from your pets for a few days - don't cuddle them, don't sleep in the same bed with them and absolutely do not let them lick your freshly done tattoo!

Flip to the other side

Try not to sleep for the first few nights on the spot where the freshly done tattoo is. Why? Not only will it hurt you, but you will wipe off all the ointment and may damage it.

Alarming symptoms

If you notice any of the symptoms in the list below, contact your doctor immediately. In this case, it is not just about the appearance of the pattern, your health is the most important thing!

  • Weakening of the muscles
  • Rash
  • Skin graining
  • Inflammation
  • Ulceration
  • Pus discharge with or without blood
  • Bleeding
  • Severe pain
  • Unpleasant odour from the tattooed area

With proper care, cleanliness and adherence to the above-mentioned recommendations of the tattooist, most of the above-mentioned complications are not likely to occur.

In the winter, not the summer!

Getting tattoos is most popular in summer, whereas they should be done in autumn and winter.
During these seasons, the sun is not so intense and the tattoo is covered all the time.

Most people come to get tattooed in the summer, and it is best done in winter or autumn. Then, being fresh, they are not exposed to the sun.
