Stearic Acid
Common name:
Stearic Acid
Ingredient description:
A natural saturated fatty acid. Acts as an emulsifier - it enables the formation of an emulsion by linking the water and oil phases together. It is a stabiliser and extends the shelf life of the cosmetic. It is used as an additive in cleansing cosmetics after washing the body with surfactants. Cleansing agents wash away the fatty layer of the epidermis, which can cause dryness. Stearic acid prevents this and rebuilds the lipid layer.
Cosmetic action:
Indirectly moisturises due to the formation of a lipid layer on the epidermal surface. Prevents drying of the skin within the fresh tattoo, which could impair the progress of healing and pigment implementation.
